Aquarius Navigational Rally

Update

A Sample Route Card is now available to help answer a few questions about navigation.

Please see the attachments below.

On behalf of Glenrothes MSC, it is our pleasure to welcome you to the 2016 Aquarius Navigational Rally, on the night of 23/24 January 2016. The rally will feature approx 120 miles of the best lanes in Fife & Lowland Perthshire, on OS Maps 58 & 59, based out of our fantastic new start venue, the Loch Leven Community Campus in Kinross. With a "no nonsense" pre-plot navigational format, we aim to encourage newcomers to night events, whilst still providing experienced crews with a rewarding night's sport (& a well-earned breakfast!)

Marshals will also be made very welcome, and we'll do our best to give you a great night's sport. We offer a free breakfast for all marshals manning two controls, cosy gloves and hats, and you'll also receive free Glenrothes MSC membership for 2016. This year we shall be the opening round of the 2016 SACC Navigational Rally Championship and - new for this year - a round of the 2016 HRCR Premier Rally Championship.

We look forward to extending you a warm welcome to Kinross on 23rd January!

Kingdom Stages 2015 Final Results

Rintoul Wins Again!

Additional Files:

John Rintoul successfully retained his "King of the Kingdom" title at the 2015 Kingdom Stages, held by Glenrothes MSC at Crail.  Navigated by Ross Hynd, John steered his Hyundai Accent WRC to first place, beating Bruce Edwards and Jim Smith in their Darrian by just over a minute.  Gary and Gordon Adam in their Escort took third spot, just 15 seconds further back.

Damp conditions in the morning led to drier surfaces later on, as 100 crews competed over 60 miles of airfield stages.  The event was the final round of the STRC Championship, with John Marshall confirmed as the winning driver.

Glenrothes MSC would like to thank all the competitors for their support and congratulate all the successful crews.  We would also like to thank the 100+ officials and marshals who assisted in the set up and running of the event, a fantastic team performance in conditions that were not always ideal!

The club intends to run two events at Crail again in 2016, but our next event will be the Aquarius Rally on 23rd January.

Notice To All Attending The Kingdom Stages Rally 2015

I have been asked by the RALLY COMMITTEE for Crail to point out the restrictive articles 166 and 167 of the Civil Aviation Authority with regards to small unmanned aircraft, ie drones, and they have expressly wished that these rules shall be strictly adhered to during the Curvy Kit Kingdom Stages Rally on 14th November.

Local police have been informed of the situation and have also requested that NOBODY attempts such from the roadside , which could lead to accident on a public highway.

Thanks,

Ian Park

Scottish Rally

www.scottishrally.co.uk

Hot on the heels of the Summer Stages is the Scottish Rally, running on the 26th-27th June.

The official word is that there is a serious shortage of marshals, possibly to the point that the event may not be allowed to run. This would be an extremely sad situation, given the history of the event and the support that exists in Scotland for rallying.

If you can lend a hand at any point, our Chief Marshal is Bill Creevy, please give him a call or email on: 07740 374458  bill.creevy@btinternet.com

Edwards Wins Summer Stages

Bruce Edwards and Grum Willcock ended up victors in the GMSC Crail Summer Stages in their Darrian T9, winning by a 40 second margin from Gary and Gordon Adam in their Escort.  Both John Rintoul and Tom Morris suffered mechanical woes while in strong positions, and there was a tie for third between the Subarus of Colin Gemmell and Ross Fernie, settling in favour of Colin due to his time on SS1.

Class winners were:
Ross Fernie/Craig Simkiss
Class 5
Barry Renwick/Steve Dargan Class 4
Ross Marshall/Dave Robbson    Class 3
John Marshall/Scott Crawford Class 2
Ross Carbry/Charley Sayer-Payne Class 1

Ross Carbry didn't even know he had an entry until Friday lunchtime, so for a last minute rush he did really well.  Graeme Rintoul and his father Jim were the first GMSC crew home in their Fiesta.

72 of the 91 Seniors entered completed the rally, an exceptionally high proportion, but unfortunately Jock McFarlane, George Fell and Roy Millar all rolled, caught out by tight sections at the airfield.

Rallying returns to Crail for the Kingdom Stages, with a revised date of 14th November.
